Laem Sak Community

With a harmonious integration of three cultures of three races, Laem Sak Community is dubbed the community with “sea on three sides and three cultures”. Its location is a cape that stretches into the Andaman Sea, hence, enclosed with the sea on three sides. Moreover, the place has a harmonious cultural blend of Chinese, Thai, and Muslim, which enables travelers to experience the best of three cultures within a single trip.

Travelers will learn Southern culture by cruising on the signature Hua Thong boat to admire the breathtaking sea, take on the role of a coastal fisherman to try squid fishing and placing crab and shrimp gillnets, and witness the propagation of sea grapes in Krachang (floating fish keeping nets). Because this type of seaweed can only grow in the area with extremely clean sea water, it is a splendid assurance of the cleanliness and the abundance of the sea here. Also, remember to visit Tham Chao Le to admire 3,000-year-old ancient cave paintings, head to  Khao Lek Khon, a mountain that has a similar shape to a nail and a landmark of the province, and to a heart-shaped mountain formed by natural processes at Laem Fai Mai. Travelers can also contribute to the nature preservation by help planting Rongthao Nari Lueang Krabi , an endemic orchid species, back to nature.

Beyond the sea, travelers can experience the uniqueness of the tri-cultural community while supporting an array of community products embedded with cultural diversity, for example, Pa Te (Batik) Clothes and Baba-Yaya costumes. Then, learn the local ways of life including making of Kapi (Shrimp Paste) from krills, tasting various local famous dishes like Khao Khluk Kapi (Shrimp Paste Rice), and help supporting the community to keep conserving these precious blends of diversity over generations to last for a long time.
