“Baan Suk Sombun is located 400-700 meters above sea level near Thap Lan National Park. Its terrain is mountainous and high-slope hill alternately with plain field surrounded by magnificent scenery and rich nature. Its weather is usually cool with approximately 27° C. A small river that flows through the village is the origin of the Mun River and the Bang Pakong River.
Baan Suk Sombun used to be called Baan Huay Kamin because the village is located near the Huay Kamin River, which got its name from many yellow turmeric plants growing along the river. In the past, Baan Huay Kamin was governed under Tambon Sakaerat, Amphoe Pak Thong Chai, Nakhon Ratchasima. The first settler was a group of Mr. Pun and Mr. Rit who came from Amphoe Khon Buri and Amphoe Pak Thong Chai in search of land for farming. In 1985, the village was established with village chief as a leader and was governed under Tambon Wang Nam Khiao, named Baan Huay Kamin Moo 12. In 1986, the governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, Mr. Sombun Thaiwatcharamat, visited the village and changed its name to “Baan Suk Sombun” after his name and the village’s abundant nature for a good fortune. The village then was officially governed under Tambon Wang Nam Khiao as Moo 16. In 1993, the village was separated from Tambon Wang Nam Khiao to establish their own Tambon named Tambon Thai Samakkhee. From that point onwards, the village was known as Baan Suk Sombun Moo 2, Tambon Thai Samakkhee, Amphoe Wang Nam Khiao, Nakhon Ratchasima to nowadays.
