Sustainable development for both city and rural community attraction. Operating with the focus of conserving the environment and maintaining the culture and lifestyle that are unique to the community.Tourism can play both the role of creator and destroyer. Mismanagement can easily destroy once considered pure and culturally innocent attraction with the inundating service and amenities that do not blend with the surrounding. Paraded investments simply to serve the demand lead to the ruins of locale, nature and local culture.

Sustainable development of such attraction hence needs to take into consideration both maintaining the richness of the location and local culture as they are the root and soul of the community. At present there are many prototypes for green communty for instance Mae Kam Pong in Chiang Mai which won the Thai Travel Award in 2007 as the outstanding community in tourism.

Over a 100 years way of life is still intact in this community regardless of countless tourists visiting and home-staying at the village. Their award winning home-stay was in fact the initiative of the head of the village and community committee.
