GREEN HEART

All sectors in the travel industry must be conscious of environmental value and the threats it’s facing from ever growing tourism. Preserving and reviving the environment and reducing the carbon footprint should be conducted simultaneously with the right knowledge and understanding and appropriate approaches.

Buddhism beliefs in the power of mind. Once you set the mind on something, it can be achieve. Same goes for being a green heart, if you are conscious about the environment, you will always find ways to reduce the impact and try every possible was without being told or force to do so.

Three factors involved in developing a green heart, they are
1. Knowledge
2. Understanding
3. Realization

Knowledge in this case is to be informed of what goes on in the world, to be aware of the change and deteriorating environment that unexpectedly threatens extinction of mankind and animal species. The ice pole melting affecting the survival of polar bears and leading to possible flood and food chain disruption or even warm and cold currents affecting the climate fluctuation are something we, regardless of the magnitude of the impact, should all be aware of.

Being informed leads to better understanding of how things are all intertwined and how we all can contribute by either start exploiting less natural resource, adjust the lifestyle that is less polluted or realizing the value of water, soil, air and forest.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand or TAT has green heart guidelines for all sectors to implement.
