Explore the Baan Laem Sak community and get to know their traditional lifestyle by visiting an orchid farm and a forest conservation project, painting Batik cloth, kayaking in Chao Le Cave, and visiting a sea grape farm.
Day 1: Cultural exchange
Morning Travel to Baan Laem Sak and visit an orchid farm at Baan Ao Nam to learn about various species of Thai orchids that grow in the region, such as Venus slipper and Aerides Odorata. Travel by longboat to look at a mangrove forest, then head back to the forest conservation project in the community.
Afternoon Enjoy the delicious local dishes “Rice with Shrimp Paste” and “Dried Shrimp Chili Paste”. Head back to Baan Laem Sak and check in to the community resort. In the afternoon, test your skill at painting Batik cloth by adding colours to a white cloth, and keep your work as a souvenir. Take a walk round the community to see its Buddhist, Chinese, and Muslim influences. These groups have been living together for hundreds of years.
Evening Have dinner at the community resort.
Day 2: Wondrous nature
Morning Have breakfast at the hotel. Go by kayak to see the prehistoric cave paintings of the sea gypsy people. Take in the wonder of nature then visit a fish farm and a sea grape farm to find out how the locals breed fish and farm sea grapes. Head back to the community and enjoy southern Thai cuisine before saying goodbye to your hosts.
