Huai Hin Lat Nai Community

However, once they come to experience the local way of life of Paka-Kyaw (also known as Sgaw-Karen), travelers will be welcomed with the warm and friendly hospitality and feel the embrace of nature as a tiny element of its greatness, instead of the humans-own-everything-on-earth world that they have grown accustomed to. The locals here live with respect to the forest and nature because their small community nestles in an enormous forest that covers an area of over 12,000 rais (19.2 sq km) and reserves a wonderful biological diversity. During a visit, travelers will get to truly live the life of a local, eat the same local food, and rest at a Paka-Kyaw’s home.

By tossing away all attachment and materialism and living a simple life gives them time to reconsider what are the real essentials of life, to better recognize the values of themself, human beings, and how much dependent they all are upon nature, which creates love and understanding towards nature and environmental conservation, and gradually constitutes  a sustainable tourism allowing human and nature to forever live together in harmony.

Other than experiencing the traditional way of life as if one of the locals, many more activities to explore include observing the watershed forest of Huai Hin Lat Nai, learning organic local tea cultivation that requires a small amount of water and well-integrated with the forest, harvesting tea leaves for further kneading and roasting, observing the harvest of wild honey with a unique characteristics as organic honey and its processability into various products.
